Andrea Tumbarello is the fruit of the harvest of the excellent 1964 vintage. Born in Marsala (Sicily), gastronomy has always been very present in his life, although he has a background as an economist.

He arrived in Spain for the first time in March 1989 to enjoy the Holy Week in Malaga. It is precisely here that he meets Carol, a pharmacist by profession, who was also on vacation. She moves to Madrid on December 18, 2004 to marry "the blonde from Madrid who is guilty of everything" on February 10, 2005. For some time he lived between Madrid and Milan, where he maintained his office.

The turning point came one night in 2005 when he went for his first dinner to the Don Giovanni restaurant, located 200 meters from his home in Madrid. Surprised by the poor quality of the pasta he had ordered, he asks to speak to the owner. This, without more, offers him the transfer of the premises. A month later, Andrea is locked in the kitchen checking if he is able to run the restaurant.

The experience satisfies him so much that he accepts the challenge. In record time, Tumbarello goes from client to cook for Don Giovanni, and finally takes over the 'trattoria'. He decides to leave his office in Milan to dedicate himself body and soul to this humble restaurant in the Retiro district.
Today, 10 years after its opening, Don Giovanni is the benchmark of Italian cuisine in Madrid, a cozy and popular space, unpretentious, whose dishes breathe the authenticity of simple cuisine but prepared with exquisiteness. The restaurant in Tumbarello, winner of numerous awards, including two Suns from the Repsol Guide, received in May 2012 the recognition of the Best Italian Restaurant in Madrid, awarded by the Gastronomic Exhibition of Pasta and Sweets in Daroca (Zaragoza).

In October 2018, Andrea Tumbarello, received the award for Best Spanish Restaurant Entrepreneur, granted by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy (Madrid).

Supported in the kitchen by a versatile staff and in the dining room by the efficient Senén García, Tumbarello knows that this luxury equipment maintains the brand quality of the house when he is not present. The signing in 2012 of Rodrigo Semczuk, for years at the side of Andrea's teacher, Abraham Garcia de Viridiana, brought new features to the menu such as homemade breads, the historic curried lentils of Viridiana and many other proposals.

The 'Tumbarello flavor' can also be enjoyed in Don Giovanni of the Hotel Finca Cortesín de Casares of 5 stars (Malaga), deserving also of another Sun of the Guide Repsol, and in Don Giovanni NH Collection Constanza in Barcelona, where it has like objective to turn the premises into the best Italian restaurant of the Condal City and already it counts on another Sun.

He also advises the restaurant AC Baqueira in Baqueira Beret that opens its doors every year in the winter season.

Known as the 'king of the truffle', Andrea has his own line of products based on this fungus (salt, honey, butter, caviar, boletus cream, chocolates...).

Another hallmark that distinguishes him is his oil cart, with more than 40 different varieties, including Spanish and Italian ones. But if we talk about cars the most popular is the gintonics. Don Giovanni offers more than 160 references of gins that delight their guests, especially in summer, when the terrace becomes the most precious.

Also, the trattoria of Tumbarello has 20 types of salts from all over the world, some vinegars of excellent quality and an assortment of Italian sausages that are cut with a legendary Berkel machine.
