Cong is a scientist by training, holding an MA in Medical Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Her scientific background enables a unique approach towards wine tasting, which is well-received by wine lovers patronising Amphora, her wine shop-wine bar hybrid in Cambridge, UK.Though WSET-trained, Cong is fascinated by varietals and regions not covered in her textbooks, specialising in amazing, relatively undiscovered wines. Amphora is a trove of jewels from Georgia, Armenia, Greece, Portugal, North Macedonia, and beyond.Indeed Cong’s weekly wine tastings and extensive by-the-glass wine list (80 wines!) have been recognised by consumers and professionals alike, whence in her first year in the trade, she has been named in Harpers’ Top 25 Sommeliers in the UK.
